Intransitive Verbs Flash Cards: Set 6
vocabulary: melt, burn, smoke, move, ring, rise, float, sink, lean, leak, spread, boil, bounce, fall, grow, roll, spin, shake
Mark's Note: In sets 1-5 we had a lot of transitive verbs and I wanted a way to show how important those direct objects can be.
'The ice is melting.'
'Mark is melting the ice.'
'Mark is melting.' 😨
I teach the vocabulary in the present continuous first, 'melting', 'moving', 'spinning' ... and then I expand to a sentence once they are ready, 'The ice is melting.', 'The ball is bouncing.' After they are well versed in the language, I go into the above explanation about transitive vs. intransitive verbs ... yes! I draw a picture on the board of myself melting 😄
