Tools for Educators is a website developed by MES with worksheet generators to make vocabulary and language building teaching materials, using the images from these flashcards. There are simple spelling, matching, reading and writing worksheet makers as well as communicative games, vocabulary handouts and fun activities to print. Check the main site for all options, but here are a few of the more popular worksheet templates available: picture dictionary bingo boards 123 Listening is a website developed by MES with Dream English. It has free listening tests to download with matching audio. There are listening worksheet makers you can use to make custom listening tests as well. They also use the same vocabulary sets and images to match these flashcards. MES Games is an online ESL games site for students. There are vocabulary building games, spelling games, grammar games and more. Students can listen to native speakers, answer questions and practice online to help with vocabulary retention and use.
Prepositions of Movement: SET ONE: this set is made up of shapes and arrows to describe the movement up, down, over, away from, toward, past, into, out of, around, on, off, across, through, under large flash cards, medium sized cards, small game cards, a handout SET TWO: this set is made up of cartoon pictures for the same prepositions of movement walking down the stairs, walking up the stairs, riding into cave, riding out of the cave, running toward the dragon, running away from the dragons, running across the bridge, jumping off the bridge, jumping onto the bridge, flying over the cloud, flying under the cloud, flying through the cloud, flying around the cloud, flying past the cloud large flash cards, medium sized cards, small game cards, a handout SET THREE: this set is made up of different cartoon pictures for the same prepositions of movement climbing up the mine, sliding down the mine, walking into the mine, walking out of the mine, getting on the plane, getting off the plane, riding over the mountain, riding past the mountain, riding toward the mountain, swimming under the shark, swimming around the shark, swimming away from the shark, running through the forest, running over the dam large flash cards, medium sized cards, small game cards, a handout Mark's note: I use the shapes and arrows (set one) to introduce the prepositions as single words for the first lesson. I generally use actual objects like toys to demonstrate the movement. I then expand to the whole clause (away from the box) in the second lesson. Third lesson and beyond, I practice with the cartoon pictures and whole sentences, moving from set two to set three once the students have gotten the hang of it. |
