Hobbies or Free Time Activities Flashcards: set two go for a walk, make things, sew, exercise, bake, take pictures, carve things, lift weights, do word puzzles, collect things, practice darts, practice pool, make pottery, play cards, do magic tricks, talk on the phone, build things, do some gardening large flash cards, medium, small game cards, bingo cards, a handout same cards with b/w backings medium, small, bingo cards Mark's note: The first set is made up of activities slightly younger children might be involved with. The second set is designed to be things older children and even adults might be interested in. The line is a little gray. These are great sets for introducing 'do' for regular actions or the present simple forms. It's a very natural structure for these activities and I don't need to explain the grammar when I use these cards. If you use the first set with older students or adults, it's a great set to teach 'used to.' - 'I used to play with trains when I was younger.' - 'I used to paint a few years ago.' - 'I used to play video games but now I'm too busy.' Not necessarily just the first set but both of the sets are good for 'used to' since we tend to do these activities for a while but then stop. ** Sports are not included because I have three different sets for sports already. As best I can, I try not to repeat vocabulary within different sets. For sports, see the sports sets. ** Chess Flashcards: king, queen, knight, bishop, rook, pawn, people playing chess Mark's note: These are great for talking about movement or getting students to explain rules of a game.
