This plan pisses me off: non-sequitor topics, crappy flashcards, etc.

However, the funny thing is MEXT goes as far as providing alphabet letters in flashcard form...as if teachers couldn't make their own letters. Additionally, I think its ironic MEXT doesn't want to focus on reading and writing but then wants to devote two classes to learning the alphabet?!?! Lastly, who can learn lowercase/uppercase letters in two class periods?

Also, you asked about 'yomikata'. From my understanding, yomikata is the sound the letters make when being read, not the name of the letters.
