Post “Swap!” – a simple game for practicing numbers or any v
1. Prepare two sets of flashcards with the numbers or vocabulary you wish to practice.
2. Divide the students into two teams.
3. Seat the students on chairs or on the floor in two rows facing each other.
4. Give each student a vocabulary card or a number. If one of the teams is larger, give one of the students two cards.
5. Have each student show others what they have and say it aloud. It makes them more aware of what word or number was assigned to them and they also practice speaking (you can combine it with any phrase you wish to practice, e.g. ‘I have number one’ or ‘I am a lion’, etc)
6. Shout out two numbers / words and the students holding those cards are supposed to swap within each team, e.g. “Number one and two swap!” or “Lion and rabbit swap!”.
7. Before you shout out the next pair of words, have the students return to their original seat.
8. The team that swaps first and correctly, gets a point.
9. Variation: you can have the students swap between teams and in that case whoever sits down first on the opposite team’s side, wins the point for the team. For the older kids (5, 6, 7 year olds) you can later shout out two words or numbers that are meant to swap.
10. An extra: sometimes you can shout out a number or a word that is not there. In that case, whichever team shouts: “It’s not here!” first, wins a point. Kids love that and they get to practice spontaneous responses.

Hope it works well for you!
