Post subject:  Observation and past tense

I used a game I call observation for past progressive tense the other day. It worked really well.

I took 4 random actors from the class. I gave each one a verb card. Then I played music. Each actor had to act out the verb card that they had. Then I stopped the music and the actors had to freeze. I had 2-4 contestants that were watching them. Then when the music stopped they were asked questions like "what was he doing?" "what was she doing?" "what were they doing?" etc. It forces the kids to pay attention to all the people and they need to use the past progressive tense to answer the question.
