Post email exchange
Hello. I have a class of 19 Japanese students around 14 years old.
(Oh, we live in a very small town in rural Japan near the foot of Mt Fuji)

I would like to set up a cultural exchange with students from another part of the world. We can compile some pictures and a group letter and send it off to your class. I think this might get them really motivated to write as well as to read. The material in our textbooks isn't so practical. So let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Hi Dr T,
I'm curious to know how your email exchange went.. If you managed to set something up and get the students involved I'd love to hear about it.
I taught elementary age kids in Korea and was too half hearted about an idea like this to get it up and running, but I'm back off to Korea in a month and its one of the ideas I'd like to implement this time around. If you have any feedback or advice, it'd be great.

Thanks

jen

Hi!

Maybe a bit late but are you still interested in the exchange project?

I'm teaching in Spain and I think my students would really like it!

Have you used the V-Pals projects with them? Do the self intro exchange then try another one. I did. 5 of my students have their's posted already. I will be posting 20 more in the next week or less. Then I will post 4 stories on the Mt Diamonte Adventure in December.

There are 7 new intros from Navoi, Uzbekistan as well

In the next week or two I'll have 10+ restaurants posted on the International Restaurant Boulevard as well

Intro project: www.mes-english.com/vkeypals/intro.php
Mt. Diamonte project: www.mes-english.com/vkeypals/diamonte.php
restaurant project: www.mes-english.com/vkeypals/restaurant.php

I think it's a pretty good alternative to fishing for key pals. My students seem pretty content to do projects in hopes of getting some back. If you want to do some yourself (your own idea) please do and send them to me. I'm sure I can get at least some of my students to send projects back. they're pretty used to it now. :D
