Post subject:  Math curriculum

I'm new registering, but I have seen post to help me in the teaching.
I'm giving elementary kids, in first grade is a mix of some new and some I know, I'm from mexico and I need to teach math now too, just that I don't know where to start or what (apart of numbers, sums, shapes)
any tips?

Is this part of an integrated curriculum? Are you going to be teaching math in English? Are you responsible for the entire math curriculum for 1st grade?

not responsible of their math curriculum since they have the subject in spanish, they just want me for them to start to assimilate it in english too??

I think you can just take a look at the curriculum and that will guide you as to what they need to be able to say in English. So, if they are working with numbers and shapes in the beginning, then you can design a class around that target language. If they are practicing simple addition, then your class could introduce language necessary for them to do the same in English.

I know this post is now a couple months old. Sorry for the late reply, but how have the classes been going? What did you end up doing?
