Is anyone using the 'Just Right' books by Acevedo, Lethaby and Harmer?

I am tutoring someone in preparation for the KET and the Human Resources manager at her company has insisted that I use Just Right (Pre-intermediate). I'm curious about other teacher's impressions and experiences with this book.

I just did a webinar with Harmer and got the advanced copy to take a look at.

The book seems good, I think the readings look interesting. He discussed how the topics were different than the usual ESL books, which makes sense. How many times can you talk about food, holidays, or music?

Let me know how it goes, I have been thinking of using a new integrated skills book in my school, and this is an option I am considering.

I, like you, would love to hear some experiences with the book from teachers.

I am so frustrated with this book! I agree that the topics are interesting and well-suited to an adult learner - but I am finding so many errors. For example in Unit 6, pg 52, exercise 28/29 the student is required to look at the picture, discuss what they think is happening, and then listen to Track 31. The picture shows a man and a woman having a conversation, but the audio track (on the CD that came with the book) is of two women (Nina and Anne), not a woman and a man.

Then there is the CD itself ... for example, Track 1 and Track 2 do not appear on the CD. The first track of the CD appears in the Student's book as a reading exercise, not a listening exercise.

It's driving me nuts!

Interesting to see you are having some problems.

I don't think I will be using the book, mainly because it isn't exceptionally better than any other integrated skills books I already have at my school.

I've given up on it! I tried to contact the publisher via their website and received no reply (only an automatic reply).

Such a pity because it has a lot of merit.
