Does anyone have experience in preparing an adult for the Cambridge KET? (A2 level)

I have a new job teaching English one-on-one to an Engineer. Her employer requires that she pass the KET within a year. She speak German, Polish and Russian. I have downloaded a lot of information and a number of resources from the Cambridge website, but I would really appreciate tips and advice from those teachers who have 'been there, done that'

Specifically - any ideas for the first lesson?

I am an English teacher for adults, but I haven't got any experience with Certificate Courses.

However, I have done several courses myself when I prepared for the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency years ago.

The problem is that those tests are very structured and it definately isn't enough just to refresh and improve one's English.
You have to know how the exam works.

There are quite a lot of textbooks which provide exact preperation for the exam and there are textbooks as well with practise test.

I would suggest just google it and have an exact look for Cambridge KET.

In the first lesson I would try and find out how much the student already knows by conducting a normal conversation and telling the student to write a short test. This way you know at least how much the skills 'speaking' 'listening comprehension' and 'writing' are developed.

The Cambridge website has a lot of information and example questions and resources - so that has been a great help. Yes, there is a very particular testing procedure. I can see that lessons must take this into account and provide a lot of examples of the KET.
