Post Colors: Teaching beyond the basic ones
My Kinder classes have mastered their colors (red, yellow, blue, green, orange, pink, gray, purple, brown, white, black and gray)and the colors in their color pencil box (light green, sky blue and peach/flesh). So I want to expand their color vocabulary. I'm confident that my kids can discern some new colors, but I'm having difficulty selecting a set beyond the basic ones.

What other set of common colors can we teach our students?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hmm ...

navy, maroon, khaki, turquoise, tan - are pretty commonly known colors

you didn't mention these: silver, gold

I found this site, it has a lot of colors, you might find some here. You might find these coloring pages helpful while teaching the other colors

Crayola Colors and Coloring Pages

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions!

I did some research into color naming and I found some interesting sites for class discussion, lessons, etc.

Color Terms (great article on the origins of color names)

List of Colors

Crayola Crayons List of Colors ... yon_colors
