It seems like a really big question. What are you going to be teaching them and how broad can the problems be?

the material is:
- too difficult
- too easy
- irrelevant
- offensive
- boring

the students are:
- tired
- uncontrollable
- disinterested
- confusd as to what to do

Is that what you were looking for?

It may vary from culture to culture, but the most frequent problem I've had with teaching 7 years and below is that the kids don't really understand or accept the "rules" of a language lesson: you do stuff in a foreign language even though it's much easier to do it in your first language.

The result of this (familiar to many parents of bi-lingual kids) is that you speak in English but often get replies in the mother tongue.

One way round this is games where responses in English count towards the game, and responses in the mother tongue don't. The difficult part is coming up with games that move much beyond single word vocabulary items, and actually require kids to work with English.

The internet is a good place to start looking for ideas, including the large amount of material on this site (click on "Home" at the top of the page).
