Post What is "International English"?
Following on from the "American English, British English... any ideas?" topic, what do you think "International English" is?

Teaching this is often suggested as the solution to the problems raised by there being different varieties of native-speaker English, but what exactly is it?

And how useful is it to teach what could to a certain extent be considered an artificial version of the language?

Sometimes my students say "please teach us international English". I usually teach them American vocab, and leave out idioms and expressions from any particular country. But obviously it's difficult to know what exactly which those are.
