I got a 6 person buzzer set. Any ideas on a good way to use it?
Game ideas? I know it has a lot of possibilities but I'm searching for ideas. Any help would be appreciated
Pics of the buzzer set are at my blog in my sig.
Thanks in advance |

My first thought is something like a grammar gamble game.
You could have one student choose a dollar value. Then based on the dollar value, you give the student a problem. It could be translating a sentence from L1 to L2 or some other grammar related problem.
The student will attempt to answer the problem. If the student gets it right, they can then attempt another problem for a bigger pot or just take the money and pass the game to the next player (a bit like who wants to be a millionaire.)
The other students listen and if they think the student has made a mistake, they can hit their buzzer. By correcting the mistake, they win the pot and take control of the game.
Does that make sense?
I also thought it might be good to have a rule that if you buzz a player and then fail to make the correction or the player actually didn't make a mistake, you player who buzzed has to pay a fine to the pot and play continues.
It seems like you could do a lot with error correction. Have the students listen to you read a script and they buzz whenever there is an error. Have the students listen to a recording of some free conversation from last week's class or the beginning of that actual class and see if they can find the errors. |

Trivia Quiz! Divide your students into six teams and have them take turns going to the buzzer set, if they know the answer they can buzz in. After each question change the players.
Or you could make a knock out round so you set a question or puzzle and the first six students attempt to write the answer, when they finish they buzz in. The first three students to get it right can stay on and the other three are replaced. (This game would only work if you have the right class dynamic I think...) |
