Mark's note: I use these cards to introduce the target language:

• You can't ....
• Can I ... ?

for permission.  You could also use 'may not' and 'may.'  Again, these cards and vocabulary are very clear and no grammar explanation should be necessary.

Signs: road signs and a few more

stop, go, slow down, one way street, falling rocks, animal crossing, speed limit, curvy road ahead, children crossing, no standing/parking, tunnel ahead, gravel road ahead, railroad crossing, parking, this way, thin ice, wet paint, ice cream

• "It means there are falling rocks ahead, maybe.  I can't drive fast. I have to slow down and be careful."
